OGG- Gov. Palin and “Turkey-gate”

Oh Good Grief (OGG).

Just when you thought the news media couldn’t get more absurd, the NYT “jumps the shark” in it’s over-the-top, self-parodying ridiculousness.

Apparently the video is on YouTube (of course), and the New York Times felt moved to editorialize thus:

“[...] Governor Palin chose to be interviewed — while issuing a traditional seasonal pardon of a turkey — while turkeys were being executed in the background.” (my emphasis)

“Executed”… executed!  Image of turkeys blindfolded, their wings tied behind their backs, perhaps enjoying a last cigarette as they’re led before the firing squad.

As Ed Morrissey on Hot Air said, do these folks think their Thanksgiving dinner (along with all the rest of the meat they consume) comes out of a Star Trek “replicator”? And isn’t this the very ideal of home-based, small-scale, organic, free-range farming that’s supposed to be the liberals’ dream?
Isn’t this exactly the type of farm the true blue “Green” organic believer would insist on getting their turkey from?

This ain’t how it’s done at the factory farms that crank out several thousand per day. Imagine THAT in the background… an assembly line (or, DIS-assembly line, rather) conveyor belt carrying hundreds of turkeys head-down into the automated “blades of death”, etc., etc. (Image of horrified faces, sounds of violent retching).

“Pass the Tofurkey, please!”

My favorite comment was this one:

“Dear NYT:
You need to learn to recognize postmodernism. By superimposing the politician’s ridiculous ‘pardon’ of a Thanksgiving turkey on the reality that turkeys are slaughtered and eaten for Thanksgiving, Palin is deconstructing myth, artifice and cant.

Cute.
