Happy Feast Day!

No, not Thanksgiving… that’s tomorrow.  Today Orthodox Christians celebrate the feast of the “Entrance of the Theotokos (Virgin Mary) into the Temple”.  I am no theologian, and especially on feast days I like to refer visitors to someone who might be called my regular “guest speaker”, Father Stephen at “Glory to God for All Things“.  Click the link to read his post for today’s feast.

One of the things I’ve enjoyed since becoming Orthodox is learning the “family stories” of the Christian faith.  You can imagine someone who is famous enough to have written an autobiography, or memoirs about their life… and how much more you could find out about them from relatives and friends telling stories that didn’t get included in the book.  Someone, source forgotten, expressed that better than I’m doing, but that’s the gist of it.  Today’s feast is one of those family stories that didn’t get into the book, but is nonetheless true and worthy of remembrance and honor.
