Happy Feast Day! Today Orthodox Christians celebrate the Feast of the Transfiguration of our Lord, God and Savior Jesus Christ.
Fr. Stephen, in his blog “Glory to God for All Things”, has kindly saved me from the embarrassment of trying to think of some worthwhile comment to make- I can do no better favor to you than point you to his post, here. The post immediately preceding that one, here, is also very worth reading.
Although the Feast is officially known as the Tranfiguration of our Lord, it is also commonly taught that it was not the Lord himself who was actually transfigured, but the visual ability of the apostles to see him as he truly is. May God grant us such transfiguration in our lives, to see his creation- including each other- as it truly is. Is that not what we are called to?
