Family time

Haven’t had the idle time to write new posts recently- I’ve been enjoying a visit from my two daughters.  The older one (24) is here for a week, the younger (18) for two weeks.  Both arrived last Thursday night.

We took it easy and restful on Friday, then drove down to Homer on Saturday.  Sunday we took a water taxi across Katchemak Bay to check out Seldovia, and returned to Homer in a little six-seater single-engine plane.  Returned to Anchorage Monday after visiting “Circle of Fire”, a local meadery, on the way out of town.  They were very generous with their taste samples, and my older daughter and I both ended up buying a bottle of their strawberry-rhubarb mead.  Younger daughter was a little miffed at being left out of the tasting, and really did not appreciate my humor when I asked if they had a glass of milk for her.

Been casual and low-key since our return; I’ve taken time off from work to be with them of course.  Older one returns to L.A. tomorrow, little one stays on for another week, leaving the same evening that Lesa returns.  Hallelujah!  They say absence makes the heart heart grow fonder; well, my fondness meter is already maxed out, but knocking around an empty, quiet house and keeping up with the upkeep by myself has been a vivid reminder of the pleasure of her presence, and my appreciation of our partnership.  If you know Lesa, you know what I mean.

Enough of this… it’s picnic time!
